Natural Cure for Athletes Foot
Whilst there are many prescription based remedies for athletes foot, there are also many alternative remedies which may prove to be a more natural cure for athletes foot than pills or specialist creams.
One such natural cure for athletes foot which appears to work as well as any is tea tree oil due to its strong anti-fungal properties. Simply rub around 5-10 drops of tea tree oil all over your feet, especially over the areas worst affected. Repeat this procedure around 3 times a day. After a few weeks you ought to see much improvement of your athletes foot.
You should continue to treat your feet with tea tree oil for a fortnight after they have appeared to have cleared of athletes foot. This is because fungi is likely to still be present and may take hold once more, so by continuing treatment you ensure this doesn't happen so easily.
Combining the use of tea tree oil with good foot care practices in general will help your athletes foot to clear up faster, and help prevent a recurrence.
Some other good tips for avoiding athletes foot are:
- Wear shoes which aren't so tight on your feet. If you feet can't breath, they will sweat more and more sweating causes a heightened risk of developing athletes foot.
- Wear special footwear when walking around shower or locker rooms. Athletes foot is contagious and by walking around in bare feet you're running the risk of contracting athletes foot from somebody else.
- Keep your feet as dry as possible by removing footwear when appropriate. Wearing sandles instead of full footwear can help your feet to breath. Another tip is to wear cotton socks which will help soak up and moisture, drawing it away from you feet.
- Ensure you're feet are dried thoroughly after showering, particularly between the toes. Talcum powder is a good way to help them dry.
