Athlete's Foot Treatment
Athlete's foot is a fungal problem and can affect anybody. Athlete's foot earned it's name owing to the fact it can be more of a common problem of athlete's than other people. This is down to a few equally important factors.
The fungus which causes athlete's foot thrives in warm and damp conditions. As athlete's feet tend to spend more time sweating than less active persons, the conditions for which this fungus requires are present for a longer period of time, thus greatly increasing the chance of developing athlete's foot. Another reason which ties into this is damage to the feet. Athlete's feet, as you would expect, are much more prone to developing sores, cuts, and tears, as not only are the feet more active and under stress, but as the feet are sweating the skin softens which also increases skin breakages. If the fungus is allowed an easy entry into the skin, athlete's foot can develop much more rapidly and with a heightened severity.
Another factor why athlete's can often find themselves more prone to athlete's foot development is an athlete will typically spend more time using shared changing rooms, shower rooms and facilities whilst walking around in bare feet. The fungus which causes athlete's foot can be spread as easily as walking on the same floor barefoot with an infected person.
For people who don't partake in sports or aren't prone to 'catching' athlete's foot, the development will usually come down to the regular every day conditions your feet provide. The best way to stave off athlete's foot is to ensure your feet sweat as little as possible by using breathable footwear, cotton socks to absorb sweat, drying your feet properly after bathing and changing your socks regularly.
Athlete's foot treatment is as simple as ensuring you follow the above pointers, and using any prescribed or store-available anti-fungal / anti-athlete's foot creams or ointments until the infection clears itself. Also by overshooting the time you use treatment, you can be absolutely sure the infection has gone completely. |
